Summer is definitely the most popular time for tourists from around the world to visit Lake Como. Weather in June is known for highs that reach 24°C (75°F) and keep rising until July and August, when temperatures get to 30°C (86°F), sometimes even more. The lake provides cooling to the surrounding areas. In addition, a rain shower isn't uncommon and often cools the heat. The water temp of Lake Como exceed 20°C in July, August, and September, making those months the prime time for swimming.
I have provided various routes to get to Bellagio, of which will depend on where you are traveling from. If you are driving, keep in mind that parking is limited so you’ll want to confirm if your accommodations provide it. Below are best routes via mass transit from the nearest airport (Malpensa) and nearest city, Milano. 1. BY TRAIN FROM MALPENSA AIPORT -> BELLAGIO http://www.trenord.it/en/the-lines/nuovi-servizi-transfrontalieri/hp-nuovi-servizi-transfrontalieri/nuova-tratta-s40-malpensa.aspx http://www.milanomalpensa-airport.com/en/directions-and-parking/to-and-from/by-train 2. BY TRAIN FROM MALPENSA AIRPORT -> TO COMO ->VIA BOAT FROM COMO -> TO BELLAGIO (SCENIC ROUT) From Milan Malpensa Airport, consider the possibility of using the train connection from the airport to Como (TRENORD Malpensa-Saronno-Como) and by boat from Como to Bellagio. The fastest way from Como to Bellagio is the hydrofoil (40 min) but you travel indoors in a crowded environment and you do not enjoy the air and the view. The boat, with large terraces and bar service, takes about 2 hours but, on a beautiful day, it will be an unforgettable journey. https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/risultati?lake=Como 3.BY TRAIN FROM MILANO TO COMO From Milan Central Station or Milano Garibaldi Station (Trenitalia) the train to Como arrives at Como San Giovanni Station: the navigation piers are about 1 km away. From Milano Stazione Nord-Cadorna (Trenord) the train to Como arrives at Como Lago Station, a few steps from the navigation piers. 4.FROM COMO TO BELLAGIO BY BUS https://www.asfautolinee.it/wr-resource/upload/ORARI%20PDF/ORARI_ESTIVO/C30.pdf?cbck=wrReq93922 5.FROM COMO TO BELLAGIO BY BOAT http://www.comoanditslake.com/fastcomocolico.htm 6.FERRY BOAT CADENABBIA-BEALLAGIO.MENAGGIO-VARENNA http://www.comoanditslake.com/timetableferryboats.htm
When on the Western side of Lake Como (Como, Bellagio, Menaggio and Tremezzina,) Buses and Boat service are a great way to move from town to town. If you want to visit a town on the eastern side (Lecco, Varenna, Colico, etc.), train service is probably the best option. Remember that trains do not operate on the western branch, but from both the train stations in the city of Como (Como S. Giovanni and Como Nord Lago) you can take a bus that will take you to some of the most popular. https://www.comoanditslake.com/timetablenavigation.htm Otherwise, we recommend to walk and get those steps in! Ride share apps such as Uber/Lyft are only in large cities such as Rome & Milan
