We're Getting Married!

We met at a junior officer happy hour in DC. Chris had his eye set on Kristin from the second he walked in, but Kristin enjoyed playing hard to get and didn't give him her full attention. Add in a spicy margarita or two and Chris left a note, hidden away in Kristin's purse as he was leaving for the night. Kristin, completely smitten by the handsome man who literally left his calling card, contacted him the next morning to see each other again. Chris and Kristin had their first date on February 16th... and the rest is history!

We were on our annual Thanksgiving-in-another-country trip, this time to Slovenia and Croatia. We had planned to do a pretty incredible alpine hike above Lake Bohinj before making our way to wine country that evening, but woke up to Mother Nature leaving us a foot of snow overnight. After spending the morning walking around Lake Bled and its iconic church on an island all coated in white, we ventured out of town in our two wheel drive Opel, with a recommendation from our B&B host to avoid the mountain pass by taking a car-train through the mountain. Fortunately, this let us visit the neighboring lake we originally would have only seen from the summit of our now canceled hike. After parking our tiny car on a steep incline, which Chris was convinced would be the only way to get it moving through the snow again, we started wandering around taking pictures and absorbing the incredible scenery. Kristin sent Chris back to the car to retrieve the critically important selfie-stick, while she set out to find the perfect picture spot. She walked out onto a snow-covered dock that stuck out into the lake that was as calm as a mirror. We snapped a few pictures together, then while Chris fiddled with the camera settings, Kristin sneakily gathering up a snowball behind her back. Starting the camera on auto timer, Chris counted down 1, 2, 3....then smash! Snow ball directly on top of Chris's head!!!! Kristin glowed in her pride as Chris, for the moment, was speechless. But then, making the moment, the setting and the afternoon even more perfect, he got down on one knee, and she said YES!!!! We are so excited to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in New England!
