FAQs

Question

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

Answer

We kindly ask that all guests follow a formal dress code for our wedding ceremony and reception. For our gentlemen attending, think of a dark or neutral suit with a white shirt and tie. For the ladies, a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit would be great. For other considerations, our bridesmaids will be wearing dusty rose while our groomspeople will be wearing burgundy. Please feel free to wear any color of your choosing that makes you most comfortable without causing a disruption to our look.

Question

Are kids welcome? Can I bring a date or additional guest?

Answer

Due to limited space at our venue, we cannot accommodate additional plus ones that are not included within your invitation. We have also decided to only invite kids within our family. We hope that you will be able to find a babysitter for your little ones to join us for our special day. Everyone who is invited will be listed on the invitation.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We have a room block available at the Holiday Inn Express on Kent Island, use code SGW when booking. For further information and additional recommendations, please see the travel tab.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There is parking available at the venue. The parking lot will be accessible for on the day of our ceremony. Please keep in mind that there are typically NO Uber and Lyft rides available on Kent Island so we recommend planning accordingly.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We are planning to have a welcome reception Friday, July 18 at El Jefe Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar from 7 to 9 PM. Additionally, there will be an after party at the Jetty Restaurant and Dock Bar following the Wedding Reception from 11 PM to 1 AM. For more information, please visit our Schedule Tab.

Question

Where is the nearest airport?

Answer

If you are looking to fly to our special day, the nearest airport is Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Dulles International Airport (IAD) are also options if flights are limited to BWI. These additional airports will require additional driving time to our venue.

Question

What do I need to know about the Chesapeake Bay Bridge?

Answer

We anticipate many of our guests will need to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (while crossing you can see our venue 😊). There is a small toll that is collected via license plate so we recommend registering your plate with EZPass. Additionally, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is the main way to get to the Eastern Shore and Ocean City. Unfortunately, this means there can be a substantial amount of traffic trying to cross the Bridge all day Friday and Saturday so we suggest accounting for this when planning!

Question

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

If anyone knows anything about Maryland, we could have all four seasons within one day. With that in mind, please expect that our wedding day should be a rather warm and humid day. We have taken this in consideration for our wedding day and we will be having both our ceremony and reception indoors. Please come dressed in your finest apparel and come prepared for the beauty of Maryland's Eastern Shore!

Question

What is occuring after the ceremony?

Answer

After the ceremony, the wedding party and immediate family will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Our guests can head straight to the cocktail bar, where we will be serving finger foods and beverages during a cocktail hour.

Question

Am I invited to the rehearsal dinner?

Answer

Due to the space limitations of our venue, we unfortunately have to limit the rehearsal dinner guest list to those who will be playing a role in the ceremony. We apologize in advance to those who are not included. We look forward to seeing you at our Welcome Reception at El Jefe Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar!

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Help us get the party started as scheduled! We recommend that you arrive a half hour before the start of the ceremony to make sure everyone is seated on time. The ceremony will start promptly at 5 PM. Anyone arriving late will not be permitted into the ceremony space.

Question

Do you have any recommendations for where to eat, points of interest or things to do?

Answer

Yes! We recommend visiting the "Places to Visit" page of our wedding website, where we’ve compiled all of our favorite local hot spots and fun things to do in the area, including coffee shops, spas and restaurants to visit before or after the wedding.

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Yes we will have an open bar for our guests who are over 21. Please bring your ID as the venue instructs their bartenders to check IDs. If you are joining us for the after party everyone (regardless of age) will have to show ID to get into the venue.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by May 1st.

For all the days along the way
