It was a classic night out in Boston. It began with dinner at Union Oyster House, where we enjoyed a traditional New England meal. Still enjoying one another’s company, we walked to the North End for dessert at Mike’s Pastry. Having finished our dessert, we walked back to watch Monday night football game at The Bell In Hand Tavern. As the week progressed, we met up several other times for dinner before Brendan went to work spending as much time as we could together. After that first week, we were inseparable and as such made our first date our anniversary date as well.
Having stayed with Brendan often in Adam’s Village in Dorchester, I grew familiar with the area and enjoyed the neighborhood. When it came time to finding our own place, we found a place just a few streets away. A year later, we got Murphy. As he grew, we knew we needed to find a place with a yard and so we moved to Quincy.
Very soon into our relationship Brendan shared his desire to get a dog. Having grown up with dogs I was onboard but it needed to be the right fit. Given Brendan’s allergies, it took some time to align on a breed. After some research, we landed on a Whoodle and found an organization called Puppy Spot with available puppies. When we saw his picture, we knew he was just what we had been looking for. Once the paper work was signed, we began to prepare for his arrival. On February 3, 2021, Murphy was delivered to our door and our family was made whole.
Having lived here almost two years, we have made Quincy our home. During our time here, we have been fortunate to entertain our friends and family for cookouts, dinners and hosting for the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. We enjoy being able to walk to grab dinner at a local restaurant or walk down to Wollaston Beach with Murphy for an ice cream or seafood at The Clam Box.
A little over five years ago, we went on our first date that lasted 6+ hours because neither of us wanted it to end. From that day on, we have been inseparable supporting each other through all the ups and downs that life brings and sharing a life together of love and partnership. Over Labor Day weekend, we made plans to go away to Portland Maine at an Airbnb on Diamond Island. What I didn’t know was that Brendan had gone to my parents to share his plans to propose and shared the news with his parents as well. As we enjoyed our weekend away, our families were back home anxiously waiting to hear from us. As we returned home, I walked in the door to find Brendan on one knee and the ring and Murphy by his side and asked me to marry him. We can’t wait to celebrate with you this September!
