On a crisp December evening, Cory and Cassie strolled hand-in-hand through the Christmas Festival of Lights in Glenn Miller Park, enjoying the twinkling lights that decorated the buildings and trees around them. The air was alive with the sounds of people enjoying the festivities, the clip-clops of a horse drawn carriage and Christmas movies playing on a big screen in the background. Together they paused by one of the bonfires, enjoying the warmth of their hot chocolate and each others company. They joked about how Cassie was shivering like it was freezing outside, even though she was bundled up and stood directly over the fire. Eventually, Cory offered his hand to lead her on an adventure. They wandered away from the crowd and further into the park, stopping to see the ducks and geese that live in the pond there. Taking turns throwing the last crumbs of their treats into the water, the couple quacked and honked as if the birds could understand them. To Cassie’s delight, one of the ducks sounded back and began making its way to them. The couple was soon enveloped in a playful back-and-forth with the ducks and geese, their laughter mingling with the sounds of the quacking. Eventually they decided to give the animals some peace for the night and continued their stroll to a quiet bridge nearby. Cory held Cassie in his arms as they leaned on the railing, admiring the fountain in the distance. Cassie gushed about how happy she is to have found someone that surprises her with sappy things like this and isn't afraid to be goofy with her. Cory pulled away and dropped to one knee, his breath visible in the cold night air. Pulling a ring from his pocket he asked, "Will you be goofy with me forever?" Obviously Cassie said yes.
