We're getting married!

Leave it to Mikayla's mom, Sheila, to set up a first date between the two. While at a coaching fundraiser, Sheila asked Steven if she could use his phone to call her daughter. Unbeknownst to Mikayla, Sheila was mischievously ensuring the couple had each other's numbers. The first date happened that next weekend! Living in two different states for the first 18 months, the couple wasn't quite ready to commit to the tolls of a long-distance relationship. The universe solved that problem with a worldwide quarantine in March of 2020, which led Mikayla to move back to Nevada. This gave the couple an opportunity to truly grow their relationship and the rest is history!

In front of friends and family, while opening gifts at Payton's baby shower, Mikayla opened a gift that burst open with balloons. As the balloons slowly floated away, Mikayla looked down to see Steven on one knee! He very nervously asked, "Will you marry me?" and, overcome with emotions, Mikayla quietly responded "YES!".
