Unfortunately both Spirit and Jet Blue have recently cut their flight options to and from Cartegena resulting in direct flight prices going up. Connecting flights in Bogota or other American cities (6-7 hrs travel) will be a cheaper option while direct flights (2.5 hrs) are in the $600-$700 range.

Another option is to flight into Barranquilla, a city located 2 hours by bus from Cartagena. There are a lot of buses if not taxi that do that route on the daily basis. We have traveled with Transportes MarSol, buses departure every 30 min from 05:00 am to 08:00 pm and it has a cost of 25000 COP (∼$5 US dollars). There is no Uber in Cartagena
But do not worry! Cartagena is full of taxis, you'll find plenty of ways to get around. However, your driver might not speak English and as a non-local, you may get overcharged (so ask for an estimate before getting in). Steven cracked the code in our last visit, we would just give the taxi driver 10000 COP (about $2.50) which is the cheapest rate so they will generally ask for more if it’s not enough.
