In June 2016, on the first day of his first “real” job, Zach was assigned the desk next to Laura. The two quickly became pals, instant messaging and eating lunch together daily. They went on a few dates but didn’t want to get into anything serious with a coworker. When Laura left SEI the following May, the two lost touch for the most part. Skip to February 2020 when Zach asked Laura if she wanted an extra ticket he had to a Sixers game in just a few hours. Of course Laura said yes! When she got to the game, Zach came clean that he didn’t have an extra ticket and bought them after she said yes because he wanted an excuse to see her. The rest is history!

On the day after Laura's 29th birthday, Zach and Laura were in Ocean City with Laura's family. As they arrived home from dinner, Zach led Laura up the stairs to the roof deck where he promised "one more birthday surprise". With rose petals scattered on the ground and surrounded by candles, Zach got down on one knee. There was in fact another surprise- Zach and Laura's family and friends joined them on the roof before a night of celebrating.
