If you've ever spent more than 15 minutes with us you've likely heard the story about how we met. It's one of our favorite stories to tell and we love watching the reaction on people's faces. However, if you're unfamiliar with our tale, it started in the most unlikely of places and overcame seemingly insurmountable circumstances. It’s the summer of 2011 and we’re standing at our terminal in Boston Logan waiting for a flight to Officer Training School. You’d think I (Steve) would remember meeting the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen, but I guess I was a little distracted, so Bekkha says. If you ask me I’ll tell you I knew she was out of my league so what was the point but I guess we all get lucky sometimes! Nonetheless, this would be the last time we’d see one another for two years. Fast forward to the fall of 2013 at Goodfellow AFB for the start of intel school, we were told we'd endure six months of misery behind locked doors and no windows. I had just driven 14 hours in an effort to secure off-base housing but ended up with the last dorm room on base. A week later training started and as I looked for my seat I saw this gorgeous girl smiling at me with an empty seat in front of her. Well, that decision was easy! The days passed and I found every possible opportunity to talk to her. I wasn't letting this one get away! Eventually, I mentioned I had an annoying upstairs neighbor who was continually doing construction. Bekkah asked where I lived, and upon my response, realized the noise actually her making tofu! My first question was what the heck is tofu? But little did I know Bekkah was smashing sesame sticks with one of her high heel shoes for her tofu salads! The rest is history and although we’ve endured years apart and varying work schedules, just as steel is forged in fire our relationship has been forged in adversity. The connection we share can’t be expressed in a short story but you can take my word it's one people pray for. Blessings can take many forms.
