A Special Place Our wedding venue is at the Schlitz Audubon Center, 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd., Bayside Wi. Once home to Schlitz Brewery’s draft horses, this 185-acre property now has six miles of hiking trails that bisect forests, restored prairies, ravines wetlands, and Lake Michigan shoreline. In the late 1800s, the Uihlein Schlitz family acquired this land from individual landowners so their draft horses could rest. Eventually this land was donated to the National Audubon Society. The center has been open for over 40 years to visitors. The Center allows visitors to explore the hiking trails, attend their nature programs and enjoy nature in all four seasons. Hayley and I love exploring the outdoors. We spent many hours at the Audubon enjoying the seasons. The views from their tower are stunning. We thought this would be a perfect venue for our nuptials. Weather permitting, our nuptials will take place on the Visitor Center veranda with dinner and reception inside the cozy center. You will have an opportunity to meet the resident snapping turtle, Emerson, but please DO NOT DISTURB him. When entering the Audubon Center, there may be a guide at the entrance. Let them know you are attending a wedding at the Visitor Center. Please follow the signs to the Visitor Center. Parking is available with either asphalt or crushed limestone surfaces.
