Steve and I met over the phone...while working for Steve's cousin, I met Steve's Dad, who thought Steve and I should meet. Years later, Steve called, out of the blue. We had a nice conversation, but it was just that...a nice conversation. Neither of us thought it would go beyond that initial discussion. A few weeks later, he called again...and from there, our conversations became more frequent, more interesting. We met face to face for the first time in New York City a couple of months later, and subsequently began dating, getting engaged 13 months later.

In February of 2023, Steve and I took a trip to the Crater of Diamonds, a fantastic outdoor diamond mining attraction in Arkansas which Steve had been talking about going to for a year. We spent a couple of hours sifting and searching for diamonds, then we moved to a different part of the field and Steve set up his drone to "take pictures of us, since we normally forget to do that when we're on trips". Two minutes later he called me over to see what he had found. As I hurried to where he was kneeling in the field, "sifting for diamonds", he held out a box with a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him. Confused as to how he had found such a remarkably polished and crafted diamond in the field that had such heavy foot-traffic, my response to his question was: "Are you serious?" Clearly, he was, and once it all clicked I said YES!!!!! The rest is history :)
