We met at AIG in Houston, TX, on January 11, 2016. For me, it was an exciting day to start my career. Clay had started at AIG in September of 2015. He was all settled in with new friends and a positive work environment around him...until I arrived. He took one look at me and had instant nausea all because he knew I went to a rival high school that he despised. You may be asking yourself "How did you know that?" Well, after a week of being there, I heard rumors around the office that he was telling everyone how I am "most likely" not a good person because of the high school I went to. Just wow. I thought after a week it would die down with the rumors, but it only got worse; because now Clay and I were competing for the next big role at work. It was like a race to the finish line to get our Industry Licenses completed in a 6-month timeframe. He never spoke to me at work, even though we were on the same team, only to ask me where I was with completing my licenses. Then to speed things up I got promoted to a new role; and after one year of being in that role, I recruited Clay to come work alongside me. In that new setting we became best friends for a solid two years. He let my high school past go and we worked to help each other in our work careers and become best friends. Well then, one day we finally hung out after work, and Clay decided to ask if he could kiss me...umm NO! Well, he is in sales, and no wasn't an option. Clay kissed me and then spent six months on and off pursuing me. I couldn't believe how much it made sense to be together; and like Clay, I couldn't stop thinking about him when I wasn't with him. On November 29, 2018, Clay decided that six months on and off was too long, and he got on one knee and asked, "will you be my girlfriend?" I said yes, then he said, "good because I will get on one knee again sometime in the future." As promised, he got on one knee again and he is the absolute love of my life. Funny how things work out.
