Eight years ago Stan caught my eye, maybe because he looked handsome in his uniform, or maybe because it was my first time seeing a Chinese firefighter. There he was, tasked to the push rubber ducks down Bayou Saint John with the fire hose and I kept thinking, "what an anomaly." Weeks later, while having lunch, I saw him behind the sushi bar at his parents' restaurant. He made an amazing lunch and it reminded me of how I always wanted to marry a sushi chef, or someone who has an endless supply of sushi, because sushi is my favorite food! Somehow we exchanged numbers and we went on a date. I expected to be wined and dined, but he just took me to the bar he worked at and brought his dog Marci. Marci was a beautiful French mastiff who drooled all over me and Stanley kept wiping off the saliva with a big white towel. (He claims that was never a date, that it was just a friendly night out. Whatever!) Needless to say I couldn't get past the slobber and we went our separate ways. I moved to Seattle and he moved on to his exciting and adventurous life. A few years later, the stars perfectly aligned for my epic return to New Orleans and fate brought us together again. We know this kind of reunion is possible only by the grace of a loving God who has a bigger dream for us than we can ever imagine. Marci has since died of cancer but we now have a gorgeous new dog together named Gracie to remind us daily of God's faithfulness. We are happy beyond measure and we are extremely grateful for all our friends and loved ones who are rooting for us to live happily ever after.
Dear Friends and Family, We have made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding due to the coronavirus outbreak. Your health and safety are our top priority! We will keep you posted on the details once they’re finalized. In the meantime please stay healthy. We love you all! Sula and Stanley
