When Steven first moved to Denver, his Uncle David encouraged him to meet Stephanie, the daughter of his longtime friends, Karen and Rick. Steven didn't take his uncle's advice at the time... yet a year later we remarkably matched on the dating site, Hinge. Steven didn't put two and two together until he realized we had a mutual friend on Facebook. David's response when Steven told his uncle it was Stephanie he was taking out? “She’s from a great family. Don’t mess this up!" Steven finally took David's advice the second time around! After a first date that lasted five hours, things took off quickly! An international trip with the Miller family within the first few months, our sweet puppy Zoe within the first year, a house within the first two... and here we are, ready to jump into our next chapter! We couldn't be more excited to celebrate with all of you!!

At the top of Mount Crested Butte, Steven completely surprised Stephanie with the biggest birthday surprise!!! He secretly flew to Texas earlier in the week to talk to Karen and Rick and to secure the ring... begging them to not spill a word! On Saturday, January 9th, he got down on one knee and proposed surrounded by the most spectacular mountain views. A kind stranger nearby whipped her phone out to capture the moment (Thank you, Brooke!!) and took videos and pictures. The rest of the weekend was spent skiing and celebrating with friends -- just how we like it! It was an amazing proposal/birthday weekend. The cherry on top? The ring was Stephanie's great-grandmother's (Vera's Mom, Rick's Omy), and it has an incredible history... Omy was a Holocaust survivor, an amazing tennis player, and a fabulous baker. Her cherry and apple strudels will go down in history. It’s amazing to think of the long, historic life this ring has seen!
