Our story began out at sea, aboard the Carnival Cruise Valor. At that time, all we expected to get out of the cruise was a decent buffet offering and the benefit of unlimited soft serve. What we both did not expect, was to meet the person that we would quickly fall in love with a year later. For Spencer, it was Emily’s natural grace on the dance floor and for Emily, it was Spencer’s luxurious locks flowing in the sea breeze. On the last night of the cruise, we stayed up all night talking and we were both too afraid to admit that we did not want the conversation to end. Our story on land picked back up a year later over the warmth of a fire and a few beers, that night, once again we stayed up all night talking and this time we made sure not to stop. Since then, we have shared adventures, awkward moments, tears, laughs, bad jokes and a love neither of us expected to find aboard a cruise ship. Here we are, three years later, dog parents, engaged and excited to spend the rest of our lives chasing adventure, and falling even deeper in love.
“Spencer is the essence of a red light moment. The moment where you make eye contact with the person in the car next to you and in a split second you decide to do a little dance before the light turns green. In that moment, you are able to be your most authentic self without fear of judgement. To me, that is Spencer, a series of surprises, goofy dances and wide-eyed looks that keep me constantly laughing and giddy when thinking about all the red light moments I will get to experience over the course of our life together.”
"Emily has no pause. She loves to dive off of cliffs, and loves to pressure me into jumping too. I’m a little reluctant at first, but I never regret following her over the edge. She’s always giving me an encouraging nudge. I never have to ask or think twice to find my dance partner, who joins my enthusiastic flailing in the spotlight, quickly and without fail. She doesn’t hesitate to help strangers either. Every time the thought of “Should I?” crosses my mind, she’s already jumping into action. One day I went long boarding with her and my life’s been on play ever since too. Every moment has been exciting and I can’t wait to hit pause only to look back at what an amazing time we’ve had together."
