You've got to visit the Honky Tonks while you're in Nashvegas! They are indeed touristy, but you are tourists, so enjoy! Both of us have had a good time throwing back PBRs and listening to some incredibly talented musicians at these sticky joints! We will definitely be rolling into a Honky Tonk or five following the wedding reception. (Don't worry, the hotels are only two blocks away.)
We went here when we were visiting Nashville! Needless to say, we had a great time!
This is a great Saturday morning activity! We love this park, which is less than a mile from our home in Germantown/Salemtown. It's gorgeous and sits at the base of the Tennessee Capitol Building. It's a must visit! If you're looking to get some exercise, we love to run/walk up the giant hill of the capitol building with our dog, Tiny Dancer. It also has a museum about Tennesee state history and is right next to the farmer's market!
We go here about once a week. You can get a delicious meal, coffee, fresh vegetables, beer, wine, and plants -- they basically have it all. If you stop by Bicentennial Park, you might as well stop here. (They also have clean bathrooms.)
If you're looking for something to do on Saturday or Sunday, we recommend renting bikes. We have rented bikes from this company several times now and have always had fun. The guy who owns the company is very nice and will reccomend a variety of routes depending on your interests!
Shelby Park is a big, lush park with a lot of trails in East Nashville. Here, you can rent bikes (see bike the greenway) and kayaks (see queen river kayaks) or go on a walk/run. They also have a large dog park.
If you're into kayaking/water, we recommend kayaking down the Cumberland River. It's quite pleasant and includes some great views of downtown.
Another wonderful park!
This is a fun, edgier neighborhood in East Nashville! It has some cool bars and good restaurants. Fun fact: I wanted to move here but it was too "grunge" for Spencer haha!
We actually haven't been here, but we've been told to go!
It is what it sounds like!
This is a very beautiful old hotel. There's a lot of interesting history here (some good, some bad because this is the south). Fun fact: The hotel played a key role in the Tennessee women's suffrage movement. https://www.thehermitagehotel.com/special-events.htm
For all of the country music fans out there, this is the place to go!
Amazing cupcakes in our neighborhood! They are best known for their sweet potato cupcake. (We can confirm it is v good!) If you're already in Bicentennial Park or the farmers' market, you might as well stop by!
One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants! Chef RJ is the man. We were in Nashville visiting during the March tornadoes. The day after, amidst all of the destruction and no electricity, Chef RJ and his team were grilling and giving away food and drink in exchange for Hands On Nashville (tornado relief) donations. We decided to move to Nashville while hanging out in this neighborhood restaurant that day.
Our favorite neighborhood coffee spot!
Spencer's favorite neighborhood restaurant! Highly recommend for dinner or brunch!
Very good brunch and dinner spot!
Great for brunch and dinner!
Great seafood restaurant for dinner! It also has a listening room/stage.
A very good brunch restaurant!
It turns out that Nashville has great hot dogs! Good for a late-night snack or a quick dinner/lunch.
The best southern brunch, period.
