They say "the best relationships come out of a global pandemic". We met at a loosely planned blind date of sand volleyball. It was a group hang out but everyone seemed to know what really was going on. Drew knew Sophie was something special at their very first awkward high-five that Sophie quickly turned into a hand-hug. From volleyball practice, the group went out the "World Famous" Maloney's Bar & Grill to start getting to know each other a bit better. Who would have thought it might have lead this 3 years later?
Drew barely survived getting Chuck, Laurel, and Tessa's approval to ask for Sophie's hand in marriage (ask Chuck for the details, there may or may not have involved a shotgun). Once that was cleared up, the couple headed out to San Francisco. What Sophie thought was just a work trip for Drew, which she was crashing for the weekend, turned out to be a secret proposal Drew had been planning for months. After grabbing a quick bite to eat after their morning flight, the couple had a quick turn around to go and bike the Golden Gate bridge. Drew was trying to keep Sophie off the scent all day, coming up with activities to do, but it didn't stop Sophie from actually asking the question "You aren't going to propose or anything, right?" to which he *Calmly* replied, "Of course not!" After the day of activities, the two returned to the hotel to freshen up. At one point while getting ready, Sophie in fact sat on the pants hiding THE RING. Luckily for Drew, she sat on the end of the pants that didn't have the ring. Crisis averted. Drew then proceeded to hide the ring in his sock to avoid another scare. Once all cleaned up, they made their way up to the Palace of Fine Arts for some sight seeing before their dinner plans. The two got out of their Uber and made their way into the Palace of Fine Arts. This is where Drew had to keep careful look out for a secret photographer he had hired. They made their way underneath the large rotunda, exactly where the photographer said she would be. Identifying the photographer was much trickier than Drew expected because in the only photo he'd seen of her she had pink hair... she no longer had pink hair. Fortunately with a smile and a nod, Drew found the photographer and proceeded to take Sophie to the spot that was discussed weeks in advance for the surprise of her life. Drew got down on one knee, proceeded to say "Sophie..." which was promptly followed by a loud "YES"! Caught off guard a bit, Drew laughed and followed up with "umm I had a few more things I wanted to say." To which neither one of us remembers. But there were watery eyes, tears, laughter, cheers from on lookers, but most importantly "YES"!
