Our love story

The two of us grew up around the same place in Indianapolis. Both of us were east side Catholic school kids and if you know anything about the east side Catholic school community, it is very small and close. We didn’t know each other well growing up but we knew who each other were. (And I, Sophia always thought CJ was pretty cute and had a myself a bit of a crush) We then went on to go to the same high school but still did not hang around the same crowds. Our paths did not cross until March 17th of 2017 when I was celebrating my 21st birthday. I walked in to the famous east Indy bar, The Mutt, and saw CJ at the bar- he noticed me and asked me on a date pretty much immediately. To which I responded “sure”- I had to keep it pretty cool. We then went on a date the very next day and the rest is history! We now live on our beloved East Side and live happily with our 3 legged dog Harlem and our shy little black cat Shikamaru.

The proposal

We went on a family spring break vacation with Cjs side of the family to Anna Maria Island in Florida. The whole week before, Cjs mom was getting me very excited for vacation talking about spa nights on vacation and specifically getting our nails done. My nails are never done but it was vacation! I was ready to pamper myself a bit, the implication of having my nails done for any other reason went straight over my head. We get there and decide to go out the first night to grab some drinks. Cj and I were sitting at the bar next to each other and started talking about us and the future. He started telling me that he would really like it if I proposed to him. I tell him that I always envisioned the very traditional man-proposes-to-lady thing. He tells me that he understands but it may be a while. The very next day we had rented bikes and decided to take a walk on the beach while listening to one of our favorite bands “The Bahamas”. We walk all the way to the peninsula of the beach where he then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. (It was then I realized he spend the whole night before trying to throw me off the trail) I said “yes” instead of “sure” this time. Easiest “yes” I have ever said.
