This free-admission arboretum features gardens suitable for nearly any visitor, whether you want to enjoy beautiful flowers, entertain children, or just pass time in a peaceful environment. They also hold free public programming throughout the year including programs for children, live music, avian programs, and much more.
There are plenty of caverns in Pennsylvania, but there’s only one that you can tour by boat. Located in Centre Hall, Penn’s Cave offers fantastic tours of this beautiful, water-filled cavern. Boat tours travel through the cave and stop at a variety of interesting rock formations.
Mount Nittany is a mountain just outside of downtown and offers several miles of hiking trails in State College for those looking to explore the outdoors. Yost Run Falls is about an hour and a half drive north of State College. Its located along the Chuck Keiper Trail, a 53-mile loop trail located in Centre County and Clinton County. This waterfall is located along a portion of the trail shown on the map as the Yost Run Loop, and it’s possible to make a longer, loop hike when you visit. Click here to find how to get there.
