They met at UMKC DDR club, the first Monday school started. Patricia and her group of friends were walking by the student union and happened to walk by when DDR club was meeting. They stopped by to see what was going on. Once Jordie and Patricia saw each other there was an instant attraction. They didn't really interact that first night, Jordie was shy. After that night they saw each other every Monday night for DDR, and food afterwards.

They were snowed in, Jordie at Hammerspace when it used to be on 63rd street and Patricia was at the dorms with her friends. Jordie messaged Patricia, saying he was snowed in and bored at Hammerspace. Patricia asked if he wanted them to save him and that they could hang out at the dorms. They met halfway on Oak Street and walked through the snow back to the dorms. The rest is history.

Patricia didn't know it was a date until after it was over. They went to Applebee's for dinner and watched Jack the Giant Slayer. After the date they went back to the dorms and just hung out. Jordie didn't ask her to be his girlfriend until the next day.

After spending a year or so working on the design of the ring, Jordie then proposed the day before Patricia would be leaving for Mexico for 2 weeks. He proposed in the comfort of their home, and she obviously said "Yes."
