It was 2013 when Andrew and Brittany’s love story first began, just 2 single twenty-somethings meeting across the black jack table. Brittany was the dealer, and Andrew the player. Not many words were exchanged that night, but a photo remains of the night they first met. Andrew: I was with my fraternity brothers, and we went to support Waldo and my big with Casino Night. We played a couple games, and when it was getting close to the end, I saw her. I thought to myself, “Ok, this girl is pretty cute”. I didn’t see her again until the dance. I gave each of my friends a hug, and her. I saw everyone dancing, but she was dancing by herself. I went up and said, “Why are you dancing by yourself? Do you want to dance?” When everyone was leaving, I asked, “Are you going back to your dorm?” She said yes. I said, “Let me walk you home.” We talked about our birthdays and where we live. Before she went to her dorm I said, “What no kiss goodnight?” Brittany: I remember exactly what he was wearing, because he looked so good in his black leather jacket and jeans. He hugged me as if he knew me, and I played along, even without any recollection of the first night. He asked me to dance, just once, but I don’t think we ever left the dance floor. I had my first slow dance with him, to the song “I'm Already There” by Lonestar. He asked to walk me home that night, and he asked for a goodnight kiss. I said yes, to both.
A few cafeteria dates and one month later, Andrew and Brittany were saying goodbye during the snowstorm before Thanksgiving break. They sat in a quiet and almost empty campus center, while the song “Boyfriend” by Big Time Rush played on the radio. The timing was just right. Andrew stumbled over his words, but eventually asked Brittany to be his girlfriend. She said yes.
While Brittany said “I love you” first, it was in the moment with no planning. Andrew, on the other hand, planned his moment to be romantic and special. In Andrew’s hometown, they went to a local carnival. At sunset, they rode to the top of the ferris wheel to view the city beneath them. In that moment, Andrew shared his feelings.
The weekend of March 8-11, Andrew and Brittany traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to celebrate their birthdays. The first two days they traveled like tourists, and visited the World of Coca Cola, the Atlanta History Center, and the Georgia Aquarium. The evening of March 10, Brittany learned Andrew made reservations for the Sun Dial restaurant. The Sun Dial is located at the top of the Westin, with a 360 degree view of Atlanta. Over a delicious dinner with a beautiful view, Andrew shared a video of friends sharing their love for them. With tears in her eyes, Brittany turned around to see Andrew down on one knee. He simply asked, “Will you marry me?” and of course she said yes!
