Joel and Sissy first crossed paths nearly two decades ago, but officially started dating in November of 2019. At the beginning of their courtship, Joel sang “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” to Sissy as they were leaving a local bar, Lakewood Landing, and the entire patio started singing along like the bar scene from “Top Gun”. Joel brought this idea full circle with his surprise proposal, which took place during one of his band’s shows. You can watch the proposal video in the “Gallery”. They were fortunate enough to find two locations with great sentimental value that will be providing space for them to hold their special day. There will be a small ceremony for their family members and wedding party at Sissy’s parents’ house (where her late father Charlie lived) and a reception to follow with the rest of their friends at one of their favorite local hangouts, Stoneleigh P, a Dallas staple which was originally opened as a pharmacy and soda fountain in the 1920’s. Charlie claimed this spot to be his “Cheers” during the 1950’s. Due to very limited space at both venues, the couple kindly requests you to acknowledge this is an invitation only event. The King’s factory was famous for crafting the finest drapes and bedspreads in all of the land, and people traveled from distant kingdoms just to purchase his exquisite creations. His daughter, known far and wide by the affectionate nickname “Sissy”, was a beacon of joy in the village. Sissy’s heart was as wild and free as the river itself. With an infectious personality that lit up every corner of the village, she spent her days spreading love and cheer. In the evenings, she could be found in the lively pubs and dancehalls, where her DJ sets captivated all who beheld her. Travelers who came to shop at her father’s factory often found themselves enchanted not just by the beauty of the textiles, but also by the exquisite young princess who played 90’s hip hop and downtempo lounge music in the village taverns. One fine autumn day, as the leaves turned golden and the air grew crisp, a mysterious figure arrived in the village. He was a prince from a distant realm, known for his bravery and wisdom, yet seeking something more profound than the treasures of his own land. He was seeking a bride. His name was Prince Joel Bradley Miller, from the distant land of Arlington. Intrigued by tales of the village’s enchanting beauty and its vibrant princess, he decided to visit, hoping to find her. The prince wandered through the bustling market, where colorful fabrics fluttered as a sea of rainbow waves. His path soon crossed with the princess, who was singing Nancy Sinatra karaoke while twirling gracefully at the Singlewide Saloon. Her voice, as clear as a bell and as soothing as a summer breeze, reached the prince’s ears and drew him closer. Mesmerized, he watched as she danced with such exuberance that even the air itself seemed to join in the waltz. Determined to meet this captivating young princess, he approached her with a warm smile. She greeted him with her usual charm, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “Welcome to our village, noble prince. What brings you here?” Enchanted by her spirit, he replied, “I have heard tales of this village’s beauty and its people’s kindness. But also of the dope DJ nights and cheap dive bars with reverse happy hour. And glaring into her eyes filled with love and temptation he replied, “it seems that it is really you, dear Sissy, who has made my heart believe in the magic that I truly seek.” Joel and Sissy became inseparable. They shared their stories and dreams, and their laughter echoed nightly through the village streets. The villagers soon saw a blossoming romance grow between the prince and princess, and their happiness was infectious. One evening, at the Doublewide bar, the prince was performing with a band of traveling minstrels, and Sissy was dancing in the crowd. Suddenly the prince broke into “You’ve Lost That Lovin Feeling”, jumping off the stage he revealed a magnificent surprise: a shimmering diamond ring, its delicate beauty mirroring the grace of the princess herself. All of the princess’s friends and family revealed themselves, and with a heart full of love, Prince Joel knelt before her and asked, “Sissy, will you be my princess and marry me?” Her eyes filled with tears of joy, she nodded and embraced him. Confetti exploded above them as they kissed and everyone cheered! A fantastic surprise party ensued with hearts overflowing and dancing late into the night. And so, the young prince had found his bride, and the two were united in a love as deep and enduring as the river that flowed through their village. Their life together was a beautiful blend of their worlds—her vibrant spirit and his regal wisdom creating a harmony that enriched the village and beyond. Their story was told for generations, a testament to the magic of love and the enchantment of finding one’s true soulmate.
