How S&B were meant to be, told by Siri

When You Know You Know

The story of how S&B are meant to be, told by Siri: I was at a concert at a small music venue in Minneapolis in January 2019. The week prior, everywhere I went I kept smelling an intoxicating lovely scent, in stores, on men and women…and I was in love with what I discovered is a perfume called Le Labo Santal 33. While waiting for the music to start, I went up to two girls and asked them if they were wearing Le Labo Santal 33- quite a mouthful of a question to the strangers. Brittney said “no, but smell my neck”, which sparked an instant intrigue and almost electric connection. I chatted to her and her friend Danielle for a little bit and then I felt like I *needed* to find a way to see her again so I asked if they were on Instagram. She told me instagram was shallow and held little attention towards me at the moment. Since she wouldn’t give me her IG handle I asked for her number. I sent a text to her number and it went to….GREEN. I asked her if she has an android to which she replied “no….i must not have service in here”. I asked Danielle a few minutes later if she could confirm her number- and confirmed that she had given me the wrong number, off by one digit. The night went on and Brittney disappeared- in fact she wound up getting kicked out of the bar. Her version of the story is that the interaction with me had shaken her up/affected her energy and she was taken aback. I’ll never know how she really got kicked out of the bar 😂 I texted her later that evening a brazen “where did beautiful Brittney go?” 24 hours later I got a response, “Hi Siri.” To wrap the first chapter of our story up, she played hard to get via text but I felt it in my bones that there was an undeniable connection and I needed to spend more time with her. I eventually asked her to grab a drink sometime and we settled on the following Thursday. Little did she know that it was in fact my birthday that day- which sounds weird to ask her out on my bday and not tell her, but I had a full weekend ahead of me up at my cabin with my friends and I didn’t want to delay getting together. January 2019 was one of the record cold months in Minnesota. The day we planned to meet up was -50 below zero wind chill. I texted her in the morning confirming our plan and she tried to get out of it based on the weather. I confessed it was my birthday and she couldn’t bail on me, and she stepped up to the plate. I had my Uber pick her up and we went to The Hewing Hotel for a drink and the rest of the first chapter is history. We moved in together August 2019 and had some very special times, and then the bleakest of times (Lockdown March 2020) We got a puppy together and tried to make the most of the strange times, and we were so grateful for each other during the weirdest period of our lives. Unfortunately, we had our struggles and found ourselves not right for each other at that point in our lives and broke up at the end of June 2020. We can each admit that we never saw ourselves getting back together- the past was in the past. Except for that I kept dreaming about her and found myself really missing her. A little over two years later we began communicating again and cautiously decided to get brunch. Brunch turned into a four hour date and we both didn’t want to go our separate ways (although we were very reserved with each other and didn’t express much emotion at first) With a careful approach, lots of conversations, and learning to “re date” each other again, a couple of weeks later we decided to go all in, back with each other. We are so thankful to have had the chance to fall in love again. Time and personal work/growth truly played a part in our story. Our dog is overjoyed for the family to be back together again :) One of my favorite quotes is "She said you are in love- what does love look like?" to which I replied "Like everything I've ever lost come back to me" 🩷
