TIMEZONE Eastern European Standard Time. LANGUAGE Greek. It may be helpful to learn a few basic phrases. Locals will often switch to English for your ease and comfort, but they appreciate the initial effort. CURRENCY The Euro. ATMs are readily accessible all over Santorini, but expect fees; There is also a limit of 800 - 1000 euros of withdraw per day. Credit cards are widely accepted (except in smaller shops, cafes, taxis, and on the bus). TIPPING Tipping is not obligatory in Santorini, however, a 10-15% tip for exceptional service is appreciated. DRINKING WATER Tap water in Santorini can be used to wash and brush your teeth, but is not recommended for drinking—stick to bottled water instead. VOLTAGE/PLUG TYPES You will need a European travel adapter like this one (320V, 50Hz). SNEAKERS You'll want to bring them as you'll encounter a lot of stairs throughout the island! WEATHER Even if the weather is warm, this is an island and after sunset it may get chilly. Do not forget to keep in your back a pashmina or a light jacket for the evenings!
