How It All Began

12-9-2010

Taylor and I do not remember when we first met, but the first time we shared a classroom was in Mrs. Scholes' 2nd grade classroom at Borgia Grade School. Fast forward five years to Tuesday, December 7th, 2010, and we were hit with our first and only double snow day experience. Being a bored middle school boy who spent all day playing video games and texting friends on my first phone, I thought it was a Netflix-special level of comedy to conjure up the idea to prank one of my friends and ask her to go out with me. Over text, her response to "Hey, you wanna go out with me?" wasn't met with much enthusiasm other than a short reply that she would let me know at school the next day. Whether it was an omen like hitting the cover off a baseball, I'll never know, but, somehow we were given a second snow day, so again, being bored, I texted her if she had her answer, to which she doubled down on her response of letting me know at school the next day. Well, the snowplows did their jobs as school commenced on Thursday, December 9th, 2010. As we were getting ready to head across the street from Mr. H's classroom to lunch, Taylor came up to me and asked if I was being serious. To this day, I'll never understand why I said yes. Here we are, ten years later, having gone from middle school sweethearts to football player/cheerleader, to long-distance as a St. Mary's Belle and a Villanova Wildcat, to studying together in Europe, to graduate students preparing to tie the knot at that same Borgia church we know and love.

The Proposal

12-12-2020

Michael and I had planned the best day for my friend (now bridesmaid), Jess, who was visiting for the weekend. We were going to go to our favorite Winery, Lake Creek, and then show her around Washington. After we were finished eating lunch at Lake Creek Winery Michael suggested we take pictures overlooking the trees, to which I happily obliged. Jess and I took a few pictures before Michael and I did. Michael then told me to check to make sure the photos looked ok (smart move, by the way ;)). While I was checking the photos, I heard a "Hey Tay" from behind me, to which I turned around to see Michael down on one knee with a ring box. Naturally, I said "no way!" a few times before he so nicely said "would you just be quiet" and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes! We then spent the rest of the day celebrating with friends and family!
