How We Met...

October 2017

Our first interaction was through Facebook. We had mutual friends that suggested we talk and then meet in person. So after a few discussions and re-arranged schedules we decided on a date at the shooting range. What a blast that was! Who is the better shot you may ask? Well...that is up for debate still. In the end we both hit our ultimate target.

The Proposal...

August 2018

After Nicole came back to America not eaten by lions, hippos or baboons I figured it was a saferish bet to go ahead and buy her a ring. A month before I had purchased a picnic basket set and decided on a location for a picnic. The location was a secret until the day of. I was taking her to the place we first held hands Skiatook Lake, on a big rocky ledge. We found a nice shady spot to sit and the weather and breeze was perfect for hearing about her trip and spending time together. When we got to the lake I said how much I hated seeing garbage and litter around the lake but we made the best of it and started our picnic of fancy....IHOP breakfast foods :) and Nicole being the wonder wife to be brought me apple juice. The meal went well and the stories about her Ghana trip were fantastic. After the meal was done I sneakily got on one knee to pretend to pick up the plates and picnic supplies. Really I was grabbing the ring from the picnic basket. As I grabbed the ring from the picnic box Nicole got up and started cleaning up the other people’s litter down the side of the lake. The only problem was she was walking away from me as I was down on one knee holding the ring box...for like 20 seconds!! So rather than tell her to come back and marry me I decided I should just let it happen more naturally and sat back down. After she had picked up most of the litter she returned to me and sat down next to me. Now we were sitting together on the side of the lake with a few boats within earshot of us. Not wanting to cause a scene or have someone think I was murdering a girl on the side of a lake I told her "ok, don't scream" which in my mind was perfectly normal thing to say but she froze, and braced for danger. Then I told her how much she meant to me, how happy she made me and how much I loved to spend every moment I could with her. I told her that I wanted that to be forever and asked her to marry me. She said yes and that she would eventually buy me a Corvette ;)
