In 2017, Hunter and Erica met at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. Erica played basketball and Hunter was competing in Track & Field.

While attending school, Hunter and Erica also participated in the work-study program and would work at sporting events on campus. Hunter was scheduled to work during the girls basketball games where he first laid eyes on Erica. Hunter and Erica would constantly catch one another making eye contact and "bumping" into each other on campus. Erica knew Hunter was too shy to make the first move, so she asked one of his friends for his number and the rest is history!

After 6 years of dating, Hunter decided it was time to ask the big question! Hunter knew that Erica had dreamed of a beach proposal and wanted to make sure it was a memory she would never forget. He told Erica for weeks that he was planning a special dinner to enjoy while they were in Florida and she was very surprised when she walked on the beach to see the setup he had dedicated to her with her family standing nearby. Erica is not an easy person to surprise but she said "YES" with tears in her eyes!
