How We Met

From Bride of Dracula to Bride to Be

We met in 2019 while both working Halloween Horror Nights. Our first interaction was a costume fitting at the start of the Halloween season - which is in August here in Florida! Sierra was next in line for her shiny new vampire teeth but wasn't a fan of the artist that was open next. So in true Sierra fashion, she told someone else to go next so she could get what she wants. (As an experienced vampire, she knew the importance of good teeth). Dave was the next available artist and Sierra walked right up full of confidence because she could tell this guy knew what he was doing. Dave set Sierra up with a new set of Bride of Dracula fangs and sent her on her way. Neither one of them knew that this would be the first moment of "forever". When HHN was up and running, Sierra found herself in Dave's makeup chair more and more often and Dave found himself spending a little extra time on Sierra's makeup each night. Eventually, Dave found Sierra on Instragram and we started chatting outside of work which lead to spending more time together at work between sets. Towards the end of the run, we went on our first date. Dave took Sierra to see a local Fringe show called The Animatronicans. After the show, we spent the evening at Sugar Factory (what is now one of our "regular" hangouts) and walking around I-Drive getting to know one another. After that date, we were pretty inseparable at work. The other Scareactors knew that Dave's makeup chair was always reserved for Sierra and Sierra always managed to have some excuse to need a makeup touch-up after each set. When Halloween came to an end, we saw each other less often but it seemed like we couldn't keep away from each other for very long. When March 2020 shook everyone's world, we made the best of it together. Suddenly living had a new meaning and we each had a different presective on what matters in our lives. We took advantage of our new-found free time and became nearly inseparable once again. As the world started to re-open, we found ourselves exploring new places together, creating things together, and falling in love. It wasn't too long before Sierra moved in with Dave and we started to build a home together. Our quarantine project of building a Tiki Room was growing, we painted nearly the entire house, Dave built Sierra a closet for (almost) all of her clothes, and Sierra attempted to grow a garden in the backyard. Between making tiki mugs, building a home together, traveling to new and old places, we found that we were exactly where we wanted to be in life. In summer 2022, Dave took a job touring for a couple of months with Blue Man Group. While he was away, he realized he didn't want a life without Sierra in it. His mission while he was on tour was to save money for a ring to purchase when he returned (and, boy, did he find a ring!) In September 2022, we flew out to Arizona to visit one of our favorite tiki bars, Undertow. Sierra thought we were going out for a business trip to talk about our next product for the bar. When we arrived, our small party of two was sat in our "usual" booth that typically seats 6. We both ordered our favorite drinks and when those drinks arrived, Sierra was a bit confused. Being a regular at Undertow (yes, even 1,800 miles away), we knew the glassware that our favorite drinks were served in and Sierra was not served her usual drink in her usual glass. Instead, she looked confused at a mug that she then realized said "Yes to Forever" on one side and "9/17/22" in a heart on the other. Dave then turned to Sierra and asked her to spend the rest of his life with her. She said yes! Moments later, the bar was filled with applause and in came a parade of family members that came to celebrate our love and our lives together. We are grateful to have so much love and support from both of our families and cannot wait to share the rest of our lives together with all of you. Thank you for being a part of our story. This is just the beginning of Forever.
