Our Story

On 18 Nov 2018, Siena & Heather's paths crossed in a miraculous way. They were both looking for friends to explore the beautiful state of UT with. Siena happened to be in St. George, UT, adventuring with her Mom, meanwhile, Heather was gallivanting with her roommate, Anne, in Bryce Canyon, UT. On a long drive, Siena came across Heather's profile & immediately knew they would be great friends. It was only two weeks before Siena planned to return home to NY following her last Occupational Therapy rotation, so it took some convincing from Siena's friend, Yaros, to even plan a meet up. Two weeks just felt so short to establish a new friendship. Despite that, the two decided to plan a hike up the Squaw Peak Trail near Provo, UT. Heather claims to this day that she knew Siena was someone very special when Siena suggested they climb a steep boulder off the side of the trail - scouting an incredible view of the valley below. Siena often teases Heather that the flutter in her heart may have been fear of heights from being so high atop the cliff, rather than love at first sight. (But clearly Heather was right on this one.) Once they summited their hike, they both grew cold & decided to make a fire. Heather won Siena over with her one-strike fire start and the most amazing fire roasted beef jerky. They both returned home that night knowing they had met the love of their life. And as for that short time between meeting and Siena’s return to NY… they made sure to see each other every single day.

Proposal

On top of the world here together

Fast forward about a year later (and many adventures in between), to October 2019. After a few months of carrying around the ring and capturing funny, romantic and sneaky pictures of Heather unknowingly with or wearing the ring, Siena had planned the perfect proposal. She took Heather home to NY with the aim of hiking the infamous Indian Head Trail in the ADK mountains; a trail known for its infinite view of the ADKs. That morning the rain took over and flooded the trail, but Siena was determined to get them to the top. They traveled 6 miles up through saturated terrain (3 miles further than the alltrails app stated- we didn’t anticipate that long of a hike in the pouring rain- although sometimes we like to think we’re that hardcore). Summitting the trail- soaked to the bone and the foliage view now hampered by snowfall, Siena took the leap of faith, and popped the question. As one of our favorite songs “This Is It” by Scotty McCreery states, “On top of the world here together… looking out, I can see forever.” Although the snow blocked our infinite view, we saw forever in each other’s eyes. Without any hesitation, Heather said "YES!"
