As busy working professionals, we decided to try our luck with online dating. We were each other's first try on a site called Hinge and after some persistence on Barclay's side, we met up on Cinco de Mayo at El Gaucho. We quickly bonded over similar taste in drinks, our love for Disney, our families, our willingness to be open and honest about our past lives and what we were looking for going forward. We laughed together all night and have been together ever since.

When we met, we knew right away that we had found our person! We even picked out the ring almost a year before the actual proposal. Barclay enlisted my best friends to help him plan the perfect proposal for us. Though I knew it would happen before the end of the year, I had no idea what he was planning. Barclay and I travel a lot for work and pleasure. So the trip down to California wasn't suspicious, but the fact that he was so vague on the details had me wondering just what kind of a weekend trip this would be. We arrived at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel and checked into our ocean front suite and then Barclay spoiled us with massages and a spa day. We got back to our room and I was told to dress for a fancy night out and wait for a knock at the door. B had just finished The Ritz Carlton in Portland, so when two staff members showed up at the door to take us for a property tour, it didn't seem too out of place. They made small talk of comparisons of the two properties all while leading us down to some meeting rooms with balconies overlooking the ocean. I only became suspicious when they stopped at a room that had drapes obscuring the view through the glass doors. They opened it to reveal a pathway of rose petals and lanterns leading us out to a balcony set up for the most romantic proposal. Then came an even better surprise! After we took a second to take in all of the beautiful flower arrangements, champagne and display of photos, Barclay said, "you can come out now!" Five of my best girlfriends came around the corner to completely surprise me, celebrate with us and video Barclay proposing. The next day we took a party bus, lots of champagne and a VIP tour to Disneyland! Barclay made the proposal magical in every way!
