Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

If you’re traveling from out of town, the closest hotel to our wedding is the Holiday Inn Express in Cortland. Other hotels we’d recommend are the Fairfield Inn and the Best Western Plus in Cortland. If you’re willing to travel a bit farther to your hotel, the Hope Lake Lodge is great, and there are also some cute B&B’s and Inns around the area, especially in Skaneateles.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

We request that guests wear festive attire to our wedding. “Festive attire” is a semi-formal dress code that refers to clothing that is comfortable, colorful, and celebratory. Think bright hues, playful patterns, and relaxed styles that embody the joyous atmosphere of the occasion.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

In Homer, NY, we expect a high around 70 and a low around 50 during late May. Because weather is unpredictable, please keep an eye out for the weather forecast as our wedding date nears. Note that the tent will be heated and sidewalls added, dependent on weather.

Question

Where will the wedding take place?

Answer

Our wedding will take place in Karen and Rusty McLaughlin's backyard at 5016 US-11 in Homer, NY. We will have a tent set up where the reception will take place. We hope to have our ceremony outdoors in their backyard (not in a tent), but this will be dependent on weather.

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

We ask that our guests RSVP to our wedding right here on our wedding website. Please do so by clicking the "RSVP" tab. We ask that all guests RSVP by March 20, 2023 to ensure that we have an accurate guest count.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

We recommend that guests arrive 30 minutes to an hour before the ceremony start time (between 4:00 and 4:30 pm) to ensure that our ceremony begins on time.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

Rusty and Karen's place has a large parking lot attached. That said, please be mindful that there is not unlimited parking, so we recommend carpooling whenever possible.

Question

Will I be able to eat if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

Our reception meal will feature plenty of options for those with dietary restrictions, including gluten-free options, vegan options, and vegetarian options. We want all of our guests to be able to have an enjoyable meal, so please feel free to reach out to us if you have any specific concerns about dietary needs.

Question

Will drinks be served at the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We will have an open bar during our reception, and guests will be able to choose between wine, beer, or a few different signature mixed drink options.

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

As you make your plans to join us on our special day, please note that transportation to and from our wedding will not be provided. We kindly ask that you make arrangements for your own transportation.

Question

Where are you registered, and where should gifts be sent?

Answer

If you would like to honor us with a gift other than your presence at our wedding, we have two registries set up right here on our website. We are registered at both Crate and Barrel and Target. Both can be accessed through this website by clicking the "Registry" tab. Gifts can be delivered to our home address at 6 Brentwood Drive, Homer, NY 13077. We will have a wedding card box at our reception, as well. To access the most up-to-date versions of our registries, use the URLs below to navigate directly to each registry page: Crate & Barrel: https://www.crateandbarrel.com/gift-registry/hannah-shockey/r6673383 Target: https://www.target.com/gift-registry/gift/hannah-and-eric-2023

Question

What is the general schedule for the wedding day?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm, and will last about 30 minutes. Afterwards, we will host a cocktail hour between 5:30 and 6:30 pm, followed by dinner and dancing until the reception end time (10:00 pm).

Question

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding?

Answer

Our guests are welcome to take pictures at our reception. We ask that our guests refrain from taking pictures during our ceremony to allow our photographer to take uninterrupted photos during that time.

Question

Where will updates be posted?

Answer

Any updates or wedding-related communications will be conveyed through this site (Zola). As our wedding date nears, we will be sure to update this site to reflect the most accurate information as possible.
