Parents of Bride
My parents have always been my biggest supporters. They have always been there for me through school, new jobs, past breakups and new ventures. They are two of the most caring people I know and I am lucky to have been raised by them. They have taught me a lot and I owe a lot of who I am today to them. I love them dearly and I am so excited to have them be by my side on my big day.
Mother of the Groom
My Mom has been the most difficult to write about because there is just so much to say with so little room. She led my family through the difficult tragedy of my Dad passing at a young age. As a single Mom she managed to work full time, coach me in basketball every year, volunteer for the Search and Rescue team, the list goes on and I have no idea how she had the time or energy to accomplish it all. I remember she used to wait at the door for me to open it for her wherever we went. I didn't know it yet at the time, but she was training me to do this in the future for Sher. I would not be the man I am today without her.
Officiant
Brother of Bride I can not believe I got to share a womb with this guy. Steve is just so cool. He is the most hard working person I know (I mean c'mon, med school?!) and I am so proud of him. He is a constant friend to both Kyle and I. He even got to spend time with us on our first date. We find it fitting that someone who was on our first date with us :P and who we love so much, should help us start our life together. Thank you for saying "yes" to us, Dr. Stev, it is a honor to have you officiate our wedding.
Matron of Honor
Sister of Bride I really hit the jackpot in the sister department. I am so fortunate to have a sister who is also my very best friend. I admire her more than anyone for how incredibly selfless, thoughtful, helpful and giving of a person she is. Not only is she all those things, but she is also so so fun. Not to mention she loves dogs as much as I do. I wouldn't be where I am today without her (literally, she encouraged my move to CO) and living close by her again after so many years apart has changed my life for the better.
Bridesman
Brother of Bride Lance is my oldest bro. Although him living in Chicago and me in Denver means we don’t get to see each other much, he is a very special person in my life and I am so lucky to have him as a sibling. He has a great sense of humor and is one of the smartest people I know. Its been a joy watching him be dad, one of the best out there. I am so excited to have all my siblings up front with me on our day!
Bridesmaid
Friend of Bride Emelie and I knew about each other before we ever met. Our school librarian in 6th grade used to get us confused for one another because we looked so much alike. It wasn't until tennis camp in middle school that I actually met Em. We have been friends, at times inseparable, ever since. We continued to fool people into thinking we were twins throughout high school and college. She is the kindest person, endearing and unassuming. My life has been richly blessed with her in it.
Bridesmaid
Friend of Bride This girl. My oldest friend. We met at AWANA club in elementary school. I noticed her at club once wearing her cheerleader uniform and I thought she was way too cool to be my friend. Fast forward 25 years and I still can't believe I snagged such a cool friend for life. She has a special gift that we have called the gift of "availability" as she is so quick to be available to help even for the littlest things. I admire her for her unwavering faith in God and her perseverance through hardship. She also has a way of making everyone she meets feel special and loved. She is a wonderful friend.
Bridesmaid
Friend of Bride Rachie and I were friends in high school but became especially close as roommates in college. We lived together for 2 years and my favorite college memories were the ones spent with her on Friday nights baking brownies and watching movies. We ate an entire pan of brownies in one night once and we still laugh about it. Rachie is fun and funny and she tells the best stories. She has been there for me through so much. She always speaks the truth and comes with great advice. She is also my most nurturing friend, which makes her a great mom and nurse as well.
Bridesmaid
Friend of Bride Our lives merged when I went to Turkey as an exchange student in 2004. Irmak is the daughter of my host mom's best friend, and during my year overseas became a very close friend of mine. Some of my more mischievous but memorable moments of life so far were spent with her (we regret nothing! :P). We had a blast together and still do whenever we see each other. Irmak is wise beyond her years and I have learned more from her than she knows. I am the luckiest to have her in my life.
Best Man
Friend of Groom Tyler and I met when we were on the same baseball team at 6 years old and have been best friends ever since. It wasn't uncommon for a sleepover to turn into a week long stay playing all the sports, Yugioh, pretending we were in Lord of the Rings, or choreographing our lightsaber fights, we really did it all together. Tyler recently packed up his bags and moved to Colorado, so we could live closer together. I could not ask for more in a Best Man.
Groomswoman
Sister of Groom Jen really has done it all, from dressing me up when I was little, roughhousing with me pretty much my entire life, and being there with me during some of the best and worst moments. It's fun to look back and recall how my relationship with her has developed and changed over the years. She is someone that has and always will be there for me and am so thankful for her impact on my life.
Groomswoman
Sister of Groom Wit and sinister are two words that come to mind when thinking of Brooke as an older sister in childhood. She used these tools to manipulate me into doing the stupidest things imaginable. For those of you who don't know Brooke you may read this and think "she sounds evil" although it is quite the opposite as I have nothing but respect and love for her. She has continued to teach me throughout my life and I like to think I am much wiser thanks to her lessons early on. For those of you who know both of us, you can easily see her influence on my personality.
Groomsman
Friend of Groom It's common for some relationships to weaken over time. Life gets busy, distance grows, you lose touch. Despite the distance and the chaos of life, Garrett and I have managed to become closer each year. We've come a long way from our "slap fights" we had freshmen year of high school (we were pretty mature). I was honored to stand by Garrett on his wedding day and am honored again that he will be standing next to me on mine.
Groomsman
Friend of Groom I never could relate to those horrible college roommate stories. Grant and I were randomly paired together our Freshmen Year and we were roommates until graduation. I can't think of a good college story without Grant right by my side, we did everything together and my life wouldn't be the same without him. Fun fact, Grant has mastered the "fire man" carry.
Ring Bearer
Nephew of Bride (Son of Sherri’s oldest brother, Lance, and sister-in-law, Ginny) We are putting this handsome guy on ring security. Julian made me an aunt and it was one of the best days. He is the sweetest little dude. Julian and Kyle really hit it off the first time they met. It was an easy decision to give him this important job. We love you, Julian!
Flower Girl
Niece of Bride (Daughter of Sherri’s oldest brother, Lance, and sister-in-law, Ginny) Despite her not even being two yet, I could not resist having my adorable niece as the flower girl on our day. She is so sweet and she brings so much joy to our family! We love you, Gigi!
