We're Getting Married!

I used to tell Austin that our whole family moved to Michigan almost solely for him to meet the love of his life. Some of the first people we met in Michigan were the Nelsons. There is some confusion about the date and time of this magical first meeting… Austin says they first met at the annual corn roast in the summer of 2011. Sheree says they met at Sabbath lunch after church one weekend that same summer. Unanimously, we decided it was a “church function”, and just to leave it at that. When I asked Austin what his first thoughts were after meeting Sheree, he used his elephant-like memory to describe a scene at the aforementioned corn roast where Sheree was singing some kind of special music. Which she was apparently rocking because Austin’s first thoughts were, “Wow, I would have never put that voice with that person…that girl can SING.” On the other hand, when I asked Sheree what her first thoughts of Austin were, she answered shortly and succinctly, “He’s so tall!” Both statements are equally true. Jump ahead to November 17, 2012, Austin asked Sheree to be his girlfriend. She was 14, he was 16. They were the definition of the cliché saying, “young and in love” and they were as cute as could be. Fast forward five beautiful years to December 25th, 2017, Christmas Day. Austin found the perfect ring, we hung up over 60 lovey-dovey, cutesy pictures of them from the ceiling of Austin’s quaint little cabin, he hung lights inside and throughout the surrounding trees outside, my mom and I lined a path with candle-filled mason jars, and on that -15 degree night, Austin somehow coerced the beautiful and confused Sheree into a blindfold and led her to the cabin. After the whole on one-knee, tears flowing, sparkly ring on her finger, romantic kissy thing, she said “YES!” and it was said and done. Austin and Sheree are finally getting married, PRAISE JESUS!
