Shelley and Corey booked a brunch reservation at one of their favorite restaurants, Coastal Fish Company, to jointly celebrate their birthdays which are only a couple weeks apart. The date chosen was after Shelley's and before Corey's birthday, so there was sure to be plenty of teasing about how much older Shelley was in comparison. (Only 1 year ;) ) Since their seating was going to be outside, Corey was provided the perfect excuse to borrow Shelley's fanny pack. He told her it was to hold sunblock (which was true), but it also held something else. You could not have asked for a prettier day. The sky was crystal clear with a slight breeze, and their shaded seats were right on the edge of the lake. After a wonderful lunch, they had some cheesecake lit with candles. The waitress instructed them to make a wish. After lunch, they took a stroll around the lake. While walking, Corey asked Shelley what she wished for, and she then told him the wish. This is a direct violation of wish-making code, but Corey let it slide for her wish was the same as his. He responded, "Your wish may just come true." Then he got down on one knee and pulled a ring from the borrowed fanny pack. It was a good thing she said yes, for family and friends were waiting to celebrate at the house. It was a perfect day that we will always remember. We are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together.
