Shelby and Kieran met in 2019 while working at Saint Francis Children's Hospital. Shelby was a brand new nurse, and would not have survived night shift without Kieran there to keep her laughing. They quickly became close friends, and during the summer of 2020, after months of quarantine, that friendship became a relationship. Together they navigated the challenges of being healthcare workers during a pandemic, managed long distance while Shelby was a travel nurse, supported each other through school and new careers, started a fluffy family with 2 dogs (Obi & Kylo) and a cat (Scott), and bought a house together. In November 2023, after almost a full year of planning and organizing, Kieran stunned Shelby with the dreamiest proposal. Under the guise of a dinner date on the Kansas City Plaza, Kieran picked the best view of the Chistmas lights and got down on one knee just as the prettiest snowflakes began to fall. Shelby of course said yes, and after a million happy tears they began walking to the restaurant for dinner. Kieran led her to a private room in the back, where surprise #2 was waiting. She had secretly gotten both of their families and their closest friends together to celebrate their new engagement. It was, without a doubt, the best night full of happiness and love.
