Brian would tell the next guy that we met on Craigslist, which is true! The couple became roommates on 53 Joy Street in 2016. Bonding over their mutual love for making italian sandwiches and skiing, the two became fast friends. Sheila would say that Brian bought an apartment in Portland to have an excuse to hang out with Sheila when she moved to Maine for medical school. Several adventures later and some raised eyebrows speculating whether or not they were dating, the couple started dating.

Soon after, four years later, the two got engaged in Chamonix, France on January 30, 2023. The year prior, Sheila and Brian went to Chamonix to ski because it simply was more economically advantageous than skiing out west and they had a spectacular time. Naturally, it was the obvious choice to get engaged on our second ski trip to Chamonix. Though Sheila knew that Brian would propose, Brian slyly had a plan!-- to suprise Sheila with the presence of our former roommate and her fiance to celebrate the engagement in Chamonix. After many near-misses that would spoil the surprise, Sheila ended up being absolutely none the wiser when they showed up. We ended up getting engaged on our favorite ski trail in Chamonix that overlooks Mer-de-Glace.
