We met in 2011 during our junior year of high school. Despite having English classes together since freshman year, we were actually introduced at an iHop, where we became instant friends. A friendship turned into a relationship, which has grown stronger year to year.

We both went to college in St. Louis, where we spent our free time going to Cardinals games and exploring the STL food scene! But the most important thing that came out of our time in Missouri? That’s where we adopted our dog, Bear! (Oh yeah, and our degrees I guess)

Charleston was the first place that we went on a trip just the two of us after we moved to NC, and it was one of the most memorable trips we ever had. Right before Shea’s 26th birthday, Emerson planned a weekend trip to go back to Charleston with our friends Caroline and Alec. We were headed to dinner at Shea’s favorite restaurant when we made a stop to see a Charleston landmark. We walked to the end of the Pitt’s Street Bridge hand-in-hand, and as we looked out at the city lights at dusk, Emerson got down on one knee and proposed!

We moved to Charlotte for work after college, and have enjoyed the youthful energy in the city! Since Emerson is team beach and Shea is team mountains, the Carolinas give us a perfect place to enjoy both. We purchased our first home at the end of the summer, and we're now working on making it our own!
