Shawn swiped right then a few hours later, Karen swiped right. At about 3:00 pm on New Years eve, Karen got a text from Shawn on Tinder. It said "Hi" what are you up to tonight?. Karen replied - "Staying home, making cocktails and watching movies." We texted for about an hour or so because Shawn was getting ready to go out with his buddy Baxter to Dana Point - headed to the Still Water Cafe. Shawn asked me to come meet him, but we had just started texting and I had my heart set on hanging out at home on New Years eve. Well, right before midnight, Shawn texted me again and asked how my evening was going. I responded with a photo of a vodka cranberry. I told him to not kiss anyone hot and to save his kisses for me. The next day, Shawn texted me and we talked for hours getting to know each other. I remember laughing a lot! The next day he texted again and asked me out on a date. We met of all places - The Tilted Kilt. For those that you don't what the Tilted Kilt is - well its like a pub/restaurant with girls wearing tight shirts and mini Irish plaid skirts. Think Hooters with an irish theme. Well I thought, hey this is a good place because I would know if he was a "player" by looking at all the girls. He later told me he wanted to take me there because he wanted to know if I could "hang" like one of the boys. The next day - he asked me out again. Then again and again - and we have been together ever since. We told each other "I Love You" while on the river in Laughlin, Nv. Over the past 2 years + we have grown to be best friends. We enjoy each others company, like a lot of the same foods (except condiments - he likes mustard, I hate mustard) have bought a boat together and travel a lot to Laughlin and Pechanga. We love our Buffalo slots! In fact, we are hoping our winnings pay for our wedding. We are off to a good start! We thank you all for being apart of our lives and the journey ahead! Love - Karen and Shawn
It was the Pandemic Christmas! For Christmas eve, most of the family headed over to Uncle Paul's in Valley Center California - where we had planned for a day of Corn Hole tournaments, followed by Racklette, white elephant gifts followed by a good dirty game of Cards Against Humanity. You know a typical Christmas Eve. Well after the white elephant gift - Shawn said he had one more gift to thank me for helping plan a great Christmas weekend. He handed me a gift - which I opened. When i opened, it was a rear view camera for our Yukon ( I need one desperately). When i opened it there was a ring box inside and Shawn got down on his knee and said "Will you Marry me". I said - "Yes!"
