We like to say that although God didn’t have to give us a romantic story for how our love began, we’re sure grateful that He did! Our paths first crossed at a fundraising gala in May 2022. With the lights down and the program starting, Todd was across the table with his parents when he saw Sharon slip quietly into her seat. In a moment, his interest was piqued. As the lights came up and dinner was served, Sharon was reminded that she had already heard about this guy through her team at work (plus a quick LinkedIn stalk) — now, seeing him face-to-face, her interest doubled! Conversation was flowing around the large round table, yet we seemed to keep coming back to one another. It almost all fell apart when Sharon overheard Todd mention that he was soon moving to Kenya (“I’m sorry, what was that?” as her excitement quickly fizzled). Undeterred, Todd caught Sharon in the hallway coming back from the ladies' room a few minutes later and asked her out for coffee the next morning. She was beginning the same fellowship that he had completed three years earlier, so of course it was a natural pickup line to get together and “talk about the job" before he left town. We met the next morning for coffee, talked for hours longer than expected (interestingly “the job” never did come up), and planned to connect again. Across 7,000 miles of long distance and a year of becoming each other’s closest and deepest companion, we've never looked back!
