In 2019, our dear friends Sajed and Noorin announced a date for their wedding reception. To honor the happy couple, a bunch of our mutual friends put together a dance troupe. Niloy and I met on the first day of dance practice. Within moments, we gravitated toward one another and even left that rehearsal as designated dance partners. A spark was ignited and we'd go on to deliver an electric performance. It was a bittersweet goodbye when the wedding was over and our dance practices (aka our weekly excuse to see each other) came to end. Schedules began to conflict and life pulled us in different directions. Niloy and I would stay friends, but neither entertained the idea of being something more. Until 2022 happened, of course. Our dear friend Nusrat, the organizer of our OG dance troupe, suddenly announced a date for HER wedding! We knew we had to plan something huge for her big day. A reunion was in order. After three long years, Niloy and I would dance together again. Just like that, the undeniable spark came back. But this time around, things were different. This time, we wouldn’t let the other go. This time, love happened.
Niloy and I once went on a date to a lavender field on Long Island. While there, we realized we were surrounded by a lot of family-owned farms. We spontaneously decided to check them out. We went to a sunflower field, a strawberry farm, and even a chicken farm. We also found a nearby beach (Wading River) and caught the sunset there. Before we knew it, the entire day had passed and we forgot to eat dinner. Niloy and I scrambled through Google Maps and found the only place that was open at 11pm. We ended up having the most amazing dinner in a random restaurant in the middle of nowhere. We relished at the fact that our day, despite being completely unplanned, was the best day ever. About a year later in May of 2023, we returned to that restaurant and Niloy popped the question.
