This love story began at The Cheesecake Factory in Washington, DC. Kaniya and Sha’Quan were celebrating a mutual friend when they were introduced. They were immediately connected and began to build a friendship. As their friendship blossomed, they made the decision to date exclusively and their love for each other has been growing ever since.

When the couple began dating in late 2017 they made countless memories together exploring the DMV area. Metro rides to the national zoo, walking through the National Mall taking photos while sipping on Arizona teas, and late night walks at the Alexandria waterfront are among some of their favorite activities in the area. As their relationship grew, they discovered new hobbies and pleasures together. Kaniya and Sha’Quan enjoy getting ice cream year round, cooking & grilling, watching airplanes, traveling to new cities, sports events and sharpening their self defense skills at gun ranges. Their years dating have been full of new experiences, fun, and tons of laughter.

After 2 years of dating, the couple welcomed a sweet pit bull puppy into their lives. Tazz, (Tazzy Boi, Boog, Bubba) is a ball of energy. He loves his blanket, could spend days and days outdoors, loves chasing squirrels, and enjoys long runs with Quan. Tazz has become a family favorite and is always ready for a hug or a treat.

5 years of adventures and growing love led to the couple getting engaged. Sha’Quan planned a surprise proposal for Kaniya with the help of her mother, Alicia and bestfriend, Rachel. On April 29, 2022 in Knoxville, Tennessee, Quan popped the question and Kaniya said “YES!” The couple followed up their engagement with a celebratory trip to Charleston, SC before sharing the news with family and friends. A few months later the couple hosted an engagement party back in the DMV and are now awaiting their special day! Sha’Quan and Kaniya have prayed diligently for this day to come and can’t wait to celebrate their union with you.
