FAQs

The Wedding Website of Shanti Ryle and Michael Steinkirchner
If you have any other questions other than what we've listed here, please feel free to reach out to us. We're so excited to celebrate with you all!
Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

There are two roads to the venue, and one is much easier to navigate, though both are windy, mountain roads. We recommend taking the path that starts in Corralitos, taking Eureka Canyon Road north and west, which is about 7 miles. The other path starts on CA-17, turning east onto Summit Road and continuing east onto Highland Way until you reach the venue. We highly recommend taking this road during the day, as there are many parts of the road damaged by last year’s storms and single-lane sections that are not safe after dark.

Question

Will there be transportation to/from the event?

Answer

We have arranged a shuttle service to provide transportation for a limited number of guests (up to ~90 people) to and from the venue. PLEASE NOTE, we have limited space available, so if you need a ride, have trouble with night driving, or plan on really celebrating, we recommend reserving a seat as soon as possible. The shuttles will depart from the Superior Court in Santa Cruz (701 Ocean Street Santa Cruz, CA 95060) at 2:30pm to take guests to the venue in the evening, one bus will depart at 10:15pm, and the other two will depart at 11:15pm, returning guests to the Superior Court in Santa Cruz. Uber/Lyft will then be able to take you to your final destination. There is parking available in the Superior Court's parking lot. Each shuttle holds 28 people, so please plan your schedule accordingly. If you’re using rideshare, please note that Uber/Lyft WILL NOT PICK UP FROM THE VENUE at night. Please shoot us a message if you have questions or want to reserve a seat!

Question

I’m staying on site, what do I pack?

Answer

As an outdoor venue nestled in the woods, please prepare to encounter all of nature's magic! The venue recommends packing the following, especially if you're staying on-site: - Food if you want, though there are markets down the hill in Corralitos/Aptos if you want to grab stuff to eat, approximately a 15-30 minutes drive - Toothbrush and toothpaste - Soap, shampoo and other desired toiletries - Rain gear (in case of inclement weather) - Sunscreen (seasonal), sunhat, and glasses - Insect repellent - Technu or poison oak lotion (there is some poison oak on the property) - Alarm clock/phone charger - Flashlight - Layered clothing (weather varies year round) - Blanket or shawl for sitting in the evening - Walking shoes - Slip-on shoes - Shower/pool area shoes and a bathing suit -Towel for the pool - Cup or mug with a lid - Water bottle (we have filtered water on site in each of the houses and at the Celebration Hall) - Nutritional supplements and medicines

Question

Is there Wi-Fi on site?

Answer

There is limited cell phone reception at the venue and Wi-Fi is available next to the Book Store and in the Orchard House. There is a phone in the main house. The number there is (831) 761-8288.

Question

Can I smoke?

Answer

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Smoking is against the Tibetan Buddhist religion, and exhaling smoke is 100% prohibited on the site grounds. If you need to smoke, you need to leave the property entirely. Alcohol, on the other hand, is celebrated by Buddhist centers worldwide. Just ask Leonard Cohen.
