Dec 15, 2016: We met at a Christmas party on a rainy Thursday night. This party was hosted by handsome gay men in their super nice Downtown apartment (this is actually relevant to the story, I promise). I was all glammed up ready to slay in my outfit, then disappointed when I arrived and was asked to take off my shoes before entering the house (um...the shoes MAKE the outfit). Reluctantly, I obliged and make my entrance. I do a lap, and realize I didn't know anyone at the party except the hosts. Instead of being social, I decide to sit in the corner alone and stuff my face with Kirkland vodka drinks, Costco pinwheel sandwiches, and watch all the handsome men- still a fantastic evening if you ask me, but it gets way better! In walks Jesse with his date/partner (a very cute couple as far as I was aware). He comes over and strikes up a conversation noting that we both are wearing mismatched socks. We keep the conversation going, discussing what a shame it was that our fashionable outfits were compromised by having to take off our cute shoes. We are hitting it off in that way that straight women and hot, gay men often do. At this point Jesse realizes that within the context of the conversation about our outfits and the company at this party, he better clarify a few things. He then casually weaves into the conversation (plot twist!!) that he is indeed a heterosexual man. I compose myself, put down the mini sandwiches, and the rest is history! We were instant soul mates. We talked and laughed the whole night while the world around us disappeared. We were so enchanted that we did not even notice that the party ended hours ago and we were the only ones still there. We were kindly asked to leave because it was super late and the hosts wanted to go to bed (sorry, not sorry). We went on our first date a few weeks later and have been inseparable ever since (and still never wear matching socks).
story coming soon!
