Edgar and Shannon first crossed paths while at Sam Houston State University. While they occasionally socialized with mutual friends, it would be several years before they became more than just friends. During a visit in March of 2012, Edgar and his long-time friend, Ray, planned for an evening out on the town. As luck would have it, Ray and Shannon had become close friends, and so she joined us for the outing. After catching up over a few drinks, it was evident that Edgar and Shannon had a connection. A few phone calls and long-distance visits later, Edgar and Shannon went on their first proper date in late April. The rest is history!
We had been working all day getting our new house ready for a house warming party the next day, so Edgar suggested we relax and go out for dinner that night. We went down to our old neighborhood and had dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Tepatitlan. It was a simple evening; nothing over the top, just a normal thing for us. Afterwards, we took a drive through the old neighborhood and pulled into Marmion Park to check it out. We were talking about how much we loved living in the Heights; it was where we moved in together and where we felt most at home. Edgar went on to say that he was looking forward to our next chapter together, and before I knew it, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was a perfectly "us" night, and I was thrilled to say 'yes' to many more.
