We met when we were 14 years old at Van Dyke United Methodist Church during the youth group service, Higher Dimensions. We served on volunteer trips together, traveled to Costa Rica and climbed a volcano, camped in the desert of Ensenada, Mexico, enjoyed beach trips to Daytona and spent other countless moments together growing up. Our lives took us in different directions, but some how we both ended up graduating from FSU. Go Noles!! Although we kept tabs on each other over the years, we lost touch and reconnected in 2022. Long story short, it was love at first sight. We knew from the very first date that we were destined to walk side by side for the rest of our lives. Please join us as we celebrate our love and commit our lives to each other in front of God, and you, our family and closest friends.
One day Shanna was out on the water with her family and Nick was flying around in a jet plane. He was about to take off and texted "I love you!" to Shanna. She attempted to reply "I love you!" back on her Apple Watch, but because her hands were wet it sent the number "17" instead. Nick later asked what that meant and Shanna explained what had happened. They both laughed about it. Nick started using it as short-hand for "I love you" when he was taking off for a flight - and it just sort of stuck. A little later, we both came to realize that Proverbs 17:17 is about loving one another at all times. Now, 17 is a special number that we use to say "I love you!" So please join us at our wedding ceremony that will start promptly at 3:17. : )
