celebrate with us!

We first met back in June of 2013 when we were both working in the radiology department at St. Vincent Hospital in Massachusetts. Nick was wrapping up his first year of residency and I was a long time CT/MRI tech. One evening, a patient required additional attention and when I called for the resident, along came Nick. After that moment, Nick spent the rest of the summer pursuing me until I finally agreed to a date several months later. and the rest is history!

In May 2019, Nick asked me to tag along one Friday night while he photographed the sunset. This is not an uncommon thing for us to do, so we packed the car with camera equipment and took off down the street. We stumbled upon a small pond and gazebo across from the town library which had great views on the sunset. I was not phased when Nick set up his tripod facing in the direction of the gazebo where I was watching ducks (Fred & Ethel!) on the pond. When I turned around, I saw Nick down on one knee and was completely caught off guard. I was so happy and surprised that I was only able to nod and cry when he popped the big question. And the best part? Nick caught the whole proposal on camera!

As you know, COVID-19 disrupted our original wedding plans. However, just a few weeks before the original date, we decided to proceed with a small ceremony at St. George Antiochian Church on May 23, 2020. There were only a handful of guests including Nick's sisters, his Aunt Nadia & Uncle William, Julie's family who drove from Massachusetts, and our groomsman Andrew. We were fortunate to have two wonderful friends offer to film and photograph the day! After the ceremony, we visited Nick's mom where we were able to receive a second blessing and have our first dance outside her window. Nick's sisters then converted the showroom at Shaheen Rugs into a reception hall complete with table settings, and Arabic feast, and homemade cake! We wished you all could have been there to celebrate with us but are excited to see you all soon!
