We're Getting Married

Once Upon A Time...Kayla’s Uncle Angelo, who works with James at the Grapevine REC, said he knew the perfect girl for him and told his niece he had the perfect guy for her. In November of 2019, Uncle Angelo showed James a toddler photo of Kayla and he said, "Do you have a more recent photo of her?” Haha. In response, Uncle Angelo had Aunt Kim show him a picture from Facebook as she happened to be walking on the track at the REC. Phone numbers were exchanged and text conversations began. Kayla was visiting the family for winter break and they met and bumped into one another at the REC as Kayla was walking with her aunt. Kayla and James were excited, yet bashful. James asked Kayla to workout with him and they did. Later, Aunt Kim and Kayla were at Corinthian’s Spa, and as the clock was ticking closer to midnight, James slid in,in the nick of time to ask Kayla on a date that night. Aunt Kim and Uncle Angelo drove Kayla to the date on Grapevine Main Street and Kayla wouldn't get out of the car, as she was nervous. Uncle Angelo walked her into Napolis to James as he was sitting at the bar with a plate of pasta (a true foodie, yum). They had a Godfather shot (since she's Italian he said) and Federalist wine (Kayla's fav). Then they ended up at Tolbert's for live music and champagne for the ball drop. At 11:45 pm, James and Kayla kissed before the ball dropped and James said " Uh Oh, this is something different." Kayla giggled and agreed, as she sadly knew she was flying back to NYC the next day. The night went on and they had a blast. Despite his nerves, he came over to aunt and uncle’s house for a lucky meal of pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Day to meet additional family and friends. Before Kayla left, she visited James at the REC with a card and his favorite Krispy Kreme Donuts. They began to talk during the pandemic every single day, until Kayla received job opportunities in Grapevine Colleyville Independent School District, and moved to Texas 6 months later.
