Seyeon and Andrew met through their best friend Shiv Patel when Andrew visited College Park the weekend of February 5th back in 2015. If you ask Seyeon, the first thing she remembers about that day is how much she heard about Andrew beforehand and how she felt like she already knew him. If you ask Andrew, the first thing he remembers about that day is practicing how to pronounce Seyeon's name so he wouldn't mess it up when they met. (He didn't by the way- bonus points). After a dramatic first night which ended in Andrew running off a moving bus and Seyeon quickly chasing behind him to make sure he returned to Shiv's apartment in one piece, the pair spent the rest of the weekend getting to know each other over pho, diner fries, and tequila shots. Andrew asked "When can I see you again", Seyeon rolled her eyes thinking she was being fed a line. Eventually she replied, "Next weekend" knowing that next Saturday was Valentine's Day and who would spend Valentine's Day with a stranger they just met? Andrew. That's who. And the rest is history!
Andrew and Seyeon had been dating for just over seven years, and Andrew had long known that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He wanted to propose in a way that was special and memorable. So, he decided to take her down to the D.C. mall, a place they had always talked about visiting together. Andrew and Seyeon walked around the Lincoln Memorial, holding hands and reminiscing about the past as well as talking about their future together. As they walked around the National Mall, Andrew felt his heart pounding with excitement. He knew that the time had come to pop the question. He led Seyeon to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, a beautiful and tranquil spot just as the sun was setting. As they stood by the pool, Andrew got down on one knee and took Seyeon's hand and gazed into her eyes. "Seyeon," he said, "I love you more than anything in this world. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" Seyeon was taken aback and with tears in her eyes she exclaimed "Yes, Andrew! Yes, I will marry you". As they embraced, passersby began to clap and cheer. It was a beautiful moment that they would both remember for the rest of their lives. Andrew had succeeded in making the proposal special and unforgettable, just like their love for each other.
