We landed in Isquitos, Peru, not knowing what to expect. After spending a couple days in the posh streets of Miraflores, Lima, we thought we were naturals in Peru and expected the rest of the trip to be a breeze. After arriving at our destination and meeting with our tour guide, we quickly realized that for the next couple days, we would be hiking, backpacking with only 1 set of clothes...in the amazon! But of course, with our naive adventurous spirit, we quietly accepted the challenge and looked forward to it. Fast forward 8 hours, and we were both ready to strangle each other! Hiking in the amazon with only a small backpack and 1 bottle of water, with no food or flashlights, we were now in the middle of the intimidating jungle in pitch dark. The only way we were able to trek around the jungle was by our tour guide using the stars as our "GPS". To make the conditions even worse, the mosquitoes were "relentlessly" biting both of us, making us even more cranky! We remember Rohit yelling, "this tour was your idea, why didn't you read the description!". Anuradha yelled back "shut up and keep walking!". We finally (suprisingly?) made it back to our camp site, and passed out in the tented lodging. It was at that moment that we both laughed and realized, if we could survive the amazon together under those conditions, then spending the rest of our lives together would be a cakewalk!
