How We Met

Spring 2015

One Friday night in the spring of 2015, Erica and her college roommate and best friend, Jessica Palmeiro, left Catholic University for the night to go to a house party in College Park, MD. That party was located at Sean's college house. What Erica remembered was thinking Sean was cute and was making sure everyone was having fun and playing different games. Sean... does not recall meeting Erica that night. Over the next few years, Erica and Sean flirted whenever they saw each other at parties with mutual friends; however, their relationship didn't begin until they both liked each other's profile on Hinge, a dating app. On April 4, 2019, Sean and Erica went on their first date, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

September 4, 2021

On their first date, Sean suggested they meet at Rocket Bar. After a couple beers and a few games of bubble hockey, they explored the monuments, walking and talking for hours. They ended the first date at the U.S. Capitol building, where both Sean and Erica agreed that they'd like to go on a second date. Erica thought Sean was going to propose on her birthday, September 3, 2021. He was acting strange the entire week leading up to her birthday, and ended up surprising her with her parents, sister, and grandparents at Filomena in Georgetown for dinner. After checking Sean's pockets for a ring and sadly finding nothing, Erica was very, very, very sad. Cue the tears. The next day, once Erica was convinced that her family had left DC and was heading back to New Jersey, Sean suggested they get lunch at a place in Chinatown. Since they were conveniently down the street from Rocket Bar, Sean suggested that they head over for a beer and a game of bubble hockey. After Rocket Bar, Sean suggested they walk home since it was such a nice day. While passing the Capitol, and after successfully recreating our first date, Sean began to slow down, got on one knee, and asked Erica to marry him. Sean not only surprised her with the proposal, but also with a party bus that had both families anxiously awaiting their arrival to start the celebrations! They drove around DC celebrating and ended the night at a local beer garden to continue the celebrations with family and friends. It was the perfect day.
